Making your engagement session fun isn’t that hard. Make it an experience! Here’s one of my favorite examples below, a snowball fight!
Can you believe this photoshoot was in Texas? Yeah, it’s true, we don’t get much snow here, but if we do here’s a fun way to take advantage of it for your engagement photos!
If you and your lover like to have fun then a snowball fight is definitely a fun way to capture the fun in your relationship.
For a photoshoot like this one, here are some tips to make your snowball fight engagement session a hit! (pun intended)
1. Start with the end in mind
If it’s cold enough for snow camera batteries aren’t going to last long. Get the regular shots you want first and end the engagement shoot with the snowball fight. This way you can warm up afterwards and there’s no need to worry about snow messing up makeup or hair. But honestly, if you want a truly authentic experience then maybe it’s not planned and you’ll know when the time is right. 😉
2. Bring extra clothes
If you’re planning to have an all out snowball fight for your photoshoot you may want to pack some extra clothes or plan a way to warm up quickly after. Maybe bring a thermos of hot cocoa to enjoy afterwards! You might also consider packing a warm blanket to wrap up with. If you’re needing to hike to a spot make sure everyone is prepared for what to bring. Note that whatever you are wanting to wear might limit your time outside in cold conditions. You can’t hide feeling cold during your photoshoot. Trust me here it’s hard to genuinely smile when your teeth are chattering.
3. Select a location with soft, clean snow
We all know to avoid yellow snow, but you also should avoid muddy snow. Ideally the best location would be a local scenic area that’s relatively untouched.
4. Consider weather conditions
If the day is looking to be cloudy all day long then you’ll definitely want to choose a different time than if the sun is making an appearance. If you’re expecting active snowfall that could be a fun time, but of course keep an eye on weather conditions to make sure everyone is safe.
