A Fall Mini Session at Pease Park
Pease Park is one of those Austin locations that does a lot of the work for you. The trees, the trails, the little pockets of light that show up in fall — it’s a natural fit for family sessions, and the Langridges made good use of all of it. We worked our way through the nature trail and stopped at the birdhouse, which turned out to be one of those backdrops that looks simple and photographs beautifully.
When Kids Need a Minute to Warm Up
Kim and Eric came with their two kids, and like a lot of children, they needed a few minutes before they were ready to be photographed by someone they’d just met. That’s normal. It’s actually one of the things I try to build into every session — time to just exist together before we start making pictures. By the time we were deeper into the trail, something had shifted. The kids who’d been holding back at the start were the same ones goofing around by the end.
Getting the Candids and the Holiday Card Shot
Kim had mentioned she loves candid laughing shots but also needs something everyone-smiling for the Christmas card. We got both. And the sibling shots — the ones she really didn’t want to miss — those came together right when everything else did too.
