A Story of Strength: The Hahn Family’s Maternity Session
The Hahn family is one of those families I feel honored to keep photographing as they grow. From Esmé’s earliest days to now preparing for baby sister’s arrival, it’s been such a privilege to witness these moments with them. This maternity session was especially emotional—not just because another sweet baby is on the way, but because of the journey that brought them here.
Kailee’s first pregnancy didn’t go as planned. Esmé was born early and spent time in the NICU, leaving Kailee with trauma and a mountain of emotions that never quite faded. This time around, the doctors are again preparing her for challenges, and with so much uncertainty in the air, we chose to do maternity photos earlier than usual. She didn’t get to document her pregnancy with Esmé, so these images hold an extra layer of meaning. Through all the unknowns, the Hahn family shows up with strength, laughter, and love. Watching them together, it’s clear: their bond is a steady light no matter how stormy things get.
Why We Chose Brushy Creek (Again)
Funny enough, when I was location scouting and landed on Brushy Creek Lake Park, I didn’t realize right away it was where we’d done Esmé’s first birthday session. It’s the kind of place that looks different every time depending on the season, time of day, and mood—perfect for telling a new chapter of their story.
This time, we opted for a quiet morning session. That dreamy early light made everything feel peaceful and hopeful. It’s also a great reminder that when your photographer suggests a certain time of day, they’re not just being picky—it really does make all the difference between nice photos and breathtaking ones. Light is everything, and this session was glowing in more ways than one.
