Meet Amiya!
Amiya Nakra’s best friends had three words for her: passionate, chaotic, loyal. That’s not a contradiction. That’s just someone who shows up fully for everything she does and doesn’t apologize for it. She’s a dancer, a writer, a granddaughter of immigrants, an older sister, and a self-described introvert who fools everyone because she lights up a room when she’s with people she loves. The exhaustion comes later.
She’s heading into journalism (investigative, narrative, documentary) with a double major in dance and a minor in something science-adjacent. Amiya does not do halfway.
A Little More Amiya
She studied abroad in Zaragoza, Spain during her junior year and calls it the most transformative experience of her life. She’d go back tomorrow if she could. Her color palette is bold reds and dark tones cut with lighter blues and greens. She’d spend a nervous moment sweating glitter over losing her hair any day. Her dream superpower is being able to freeze time in moments of high stress, which explains a lot about someone juggling this much at once.
Amiya’s Perfect Day
A rainy day means a good book, something sweet, and a movie. A sunny day starts inside, finds its way to lunch with a friend, and ends in a movie night with a dance class somewhere in the middle. Either way, she’s exactly where she wants to be.
Amiya’s Senior Photo Location
We shot Amiya’s session at McKinney Falls State Park, which feels like it exists in a completely different world than the city surrounding it. It was the right backdrop for someone with a lot going on underneath the surface.
Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
Amiya named this chapter of her life “Two Steps Forward, One Step Back,” which is fitting for someone who has packed more living into seventeen years than most people manage in twice that. These photos aren’t about where she’s going. They’re about everything it took to get here.
