Same Beach, New Chapter
Sometimes a trip is not about experiencing something different, but rather experiencing the same thing at a different stage in life. That’s what this beach trip felt like to me. I’ve watched my kids enjoy different things about trips to the beach every time we go and it’s not always because we’re at a different beach. This trip showcased that beautifully. We weren’t the same family that visited before and our trips have slowly changed in subtle but meaningful ways to showcase that whether it’s in our schedule, activities, or meals. This trip was fun and actually relaxing. And what stuck with me most was noticing more of the wildlife, and getting up early enough on the last morning to actually catch the sunrise instead of sleeping through it. Can you believe I talked my oldest into joining me on that early morning wake up? Shocking to say the least. Totally worth it though. Check out those images below.
The Overflow
I firmly believe that work that I do outside of client work directly feeds back into it in various ways. While the practice of photographing my own kids and family poses it’s own difficulties (do you think kids of a photographer want to pose for the camera? the answer is a loud NO!), I always struggle with my wants and desires on vacation like new techniques I’m practicing or just getting sunrise or sunset photos when it’s not always something other people care about.
