Why These Backyard Family Photos Mattered So Much
When this family reached out, it wasn’t for a milestone or a holiday card… it was because they’d just received news no one wants to hear. Their beloved mother and grandmother had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and treatment was set to begin soon. Before the whirlwind of appointments and chemo, they wanted one thing: to preserve a quiet, joyful morning together in their backyard.
A Summer Morning Photo Session with Three Generations
It was a warm summer day in Austin, the kind where everything feels a little more precious. The kids played, the adults laughed, and we captured moments that were relaxed using prompts for action. No matching outfits or forced smiles—just a family anchoring themselves in connection before a difficult season.
There’s something sacred about backyard family photos, especially when they’re rooted in love and resilience. I’m so honored they trusted me to help them hold onto this moment before life launches them on a new journey together.
P.S. – I recently reconnected with this family, and their Grandmother is on the road to recovery!
