Why You Should Do Awkward Family Photos

No one can be perfect, but everyone can be awkward.

You know it’s true! So why not create awkward family pictures as part of the theme for your holiday photos? It’s sure to have everyone laughing and will be the best memories for years and years to come. For some reason it’s so hard to keep a straight face when that’s the goal. I wonder why that is?!

When was the last time you laughed with your family?

No really… like really laughed? These photos will make you belly laugh together so hard and there is nothing that will actually help you feel more connected than laughing together with your family.

You can’t escape the cringe. It’s part of growing up.

I hear from teens all the time when preparing for their senior photos and one of the most common ideas that I hear is that they do not want them to feel cringy years from now. While I understand the idea and sentiment and wholehartedly try to keep it from looking awkward with posing, editing, etc., there is one note I must point out… You can’t escape the cringe. It’s part of growing up.

For example, my tween is SO embarrassed of how she used to like princesses and unicorns because that is for babies according to her now. BUT what you gotta know and accept is that your likes and dislikes about everything are going to change and it’s so much more important that you accept yourself as you are right now. Don’t worry about the future you feeling embarrassed. That’s no way to live friend.

Awkward Family Photos Are An Experience

Listen up, this is an experience where you are asked to let your inner weirdo out and not cover it with a perfect smile. This is not for people that cannot laugh at themselves or who are overly concerned with what other people think about them. This is meant to be fun and funny. This family’s session was for the holidays, but really this could be any time of the year. If you’re looking for a fun way to stand out and bring a smile during the holidays to your friends and family these photos on a holiday card will definitely tick those boxes.
