Why I Needed a Cleaning Schedule Again
I’ve really been focusing on ways to make my life feel better and when I look around and feel overwhelmed or stressed because my house is dirty it leaves me feeling generally unhappy. Before my youngest was born, I used to follow a daily/weekly/monthly cleaning schedule. Turns out, having a baby and moving houses kind of derails that. So, I finally made a new one, and so far… it’s kind of working?
One of my realizations was that if I forget or overlook something for too long it becomes a giant mess. This cleaning schedule helps to keep the giant messes at bay. Having a schedule again has really helped my mental clarity and stress because I don’t have to think about what to do. I just follow the list. No one loves cleaning, but, for me, having a plan makes it so much easier.

My Simple Cleaning Schedule – What Works for Me
I first broke down my overall cleaning into different areas. Daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. This system helps me to know what I have to do every day and then the weekly tasks are spread out during each week one day a week. The monthly tasks are on a specific day as well and are more of a deep cleaning add on.
Daily:
First I have a list of the daily tasks, but I also broke it up into morning, afternoon, and evening tasks. I am lucky enough to work from home so I can have afternoon tasks, but if you don’t you can still follow this schedule.
Weekly:
My weekly tasks are things we have to do each week like taking out the trash, planning and ordering groceries, different areas of the house like bathrooms, floors, etc. One thing that’s really helped me is having my earbuds in so I can listen to either a podcast or some music to make it go by faster.
Monthly:
The monthly tasks are rotated out every Saturday. There are also plenty of things I feel like I can get my kids involved in to help. (Maybe that’s wishful thinking lol.)

Why This Works for Me (And Might for You Too)
As wild as it is, just having a list and not having to think about it is already helping me a lot mentally. I already have too many things to think about every day all day with the kids, school, work, etc. If you’re anything like me running from one task to the next having a list might help you too. What else I like is the flexibility. For example, if something comes up I can just trade days or add the weekly tasks to the next day.
