Remember a few weeks ago when it rained that one time? Well I was ready and waiting all weekend long. I anxiously waited checking my phone every few hours all weekend. I really wanted to make a film of my kiddos playing in the rain.

It finally happened on a Sunday afternoon in July. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a very heavy rain so that meant no puddles. Instead we decided to play in the mud, but when we went outside we discovered the yard was dry beyond the surface dampness and there was no sign of mud to be had. So my ever ingenious daughter came up with a plan. She would use her bucket and collect the rainwater to make mud for them to play in.

After all the hard work, patience and breaking up dry soil they reached their goal. It was somewhat short-lived but they had fun playing in the tiniest mud puddle. All the films I make of my family are created FOR my family. I know in the years to come the will treasure these moments as much (or more) as I do. Can you still watch your home movies from when you were a kid? What do you love most about them? Leave me a comment below… I’d love to know what video’s you have saved from when you were little.

I hope they continue to work together to have fun in doing the simple things in life like making mud.
