Not every family wants the best lighting or can make those times of day work with their schedule. As much as I try to avoid harsh lighting as an artist it also stretched me in new ways to try to get the best possible portraits of this sweet family at a time when the lighting wasn’t ideal. If you’ve ever had portraits made your photographer probably told you that sunrise and sunset times were the best for lighting. That still rings true, but I found that I don’t feel limited to just shooting at that time and even more so now that I have been incorporating off camera flash. There are still other factors at play when choosing a time of day, but check out this sweet family’s gallery at Mueller Lake Park.
